The Transport Manager is to ensure that the general operations of the
entire entity are monitored closely and accurately. The job holder is
responsible for all the organisation’s assets, equipment and finances
and regulates the use thereof reporting regularly to the General
Manager. He/She is also responsible for coordinating, setting up and
Optimizing resource utilization by implementing standard operating
procedures for all operations.

Key Responsibilities:


• Ensure that the general operations of transport department are monitored closely.

• Conduct departmental meetings weekly.

• Put in place systems to ensure legal compliance of all operations,
including insurance, safe contracts, statutory remittances etc.

• Coordinate flow of work within and/or between all departments.

• Working out the human and material resources needed.

• Review master production schedule and work orders, establish
priorities for specific customer orders, and revise schedule according
to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability
or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.


•Give weekly, monthly and annual reports on expenditure, fuel consumption and conditions of the vehicles.

•Ensure stocks of fuel and other materials are kept accurately. Maintain
integrity in movement of stocks between operations and technical

•Estimating costs and setting the quality standards.

•People Management

•Ensure planned KPI’s of efficiency and performance are met or exceeded.

•In charge of product training to showroom sales staff.


•Manage the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure quality is met
and complete compliance as per the company health and safety

•Monitor progress of work and downtime due to failures of trucks and
equipment to appraise maintenance planning personnel of delays.

•Ensuring safe working practices for a safe working environment

•Ensure both periodic and corrective maintenance service of vehicles is carried out in a timely and perfect manner.

Education, Knowledge and Experience

•A Business degree with a bias in Logistics, Fleet Management,
Procurement or a related field. A Post Graduate qualification in the
same is strong advantage.

•At least eight (8) years working as a part of senior management team in
a reputable organization. Technical and mechanical knowledge, of Scania
trucks is important for this role.

•Training in supervisory skills, people management and/or leadership skills is desirable.

•Strong organization, supervisory, problem-solving, interpersonal,
communication as well as team building and negotiation skills.

•High integrity, self-driven and able to set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines.

•Ability to initiate and complete assignments and to work under demanding circumstances with minimal supervision.

•Excellent planning, organizational and problem solving skills.
